2 Days & 1 Night In Zanzibar

As a popular tourist destination, there is no shortage of hotels to stay at on the beautiful island of Zanzibar. As with anything in life, there is the good, the bad and the ugly. Today, I’m here to share some of my personal favourites, and why I love them, so that you too can have an amazing time during your stay in Zanzibar, whether permanent or temporary.

SEA CLIFF RESORT & SPA:

There is truly nothing more fulfilling than watching the sunset by the pool at Sea Cliff. With a glass in one hand and some hors d’oeuvres in another, it’s one of the most beautiful Zanzibari sunsets you can have the pleasure of catching! For the sporty types, the resort also boasts a handful of sports amenities, a tennis court being one of them, the first golf course on the island, and a horse stable! It’s undeniably difficult to run out of things to do on the premises.

In the afternoon, going for a stroll around the compound and enjoying the birds song is one of the most cathartic experiences around. At dinner time, you get to enjoy a candlelit dinner and good live music by the poolside. Feel free to get up and dance; you’re in Zanzibar after all!

LUX MARIJANI ZANZIBAR

Pwani Michangani, located on the North-East side of the island, literally translates to ‘Sandy Beach’, and it completely lives up to its name.

Lux Marijani is located along the coast of Pwani Michangani, a long stretch of pure white sand and gorgeous blue waters. On a sunny day, the sky bleeds into the ocean to create an endless stretch of blue, and that makes Marijani one of the best spots to go to on this list.

After a nice stroll on the beach, or a quick dip in the sea, it’s time for lunch! The food at Marijani is something to keep coming back for, a wonderful experience right on the beach. After that, kick back and relax on the beach or by the pool and absorb that summer sun.

BLUEBAY BEACH RESORT & SPA

A few kilometres south of Marijani, along the coast of Kiwengwa, lies Bluebay Beach Resort & Spa, another peaceful alcove on the island. There are few joys greater than kicking back and relaxing on the beach, listening to the sound of the waves lapping against the shore.

If it is a nap you seek, there are dozens of cosy nooks scattered across the resort. For the introverts, or my fellow book-lovers, there are plenty of books available on the premises as well. Socialising can be done over a game of pool or table tennis in the recreational area.

Bluebay, at its core, is a place of relaxation, a place where you can find your inner peace and forget about the woes of the world for a few days while you can kick back and relax, form new friendships with your fellow guests and enjoy moonlit dinners on the sandy beach.

PARK HYATT ZANZIBAR

A visit to Stone Town is incomplete without making a stop at Park Hyatt. It is one of the best places to view the Zanzibari sunset with a cup of cappuccino and the idle drone of city life in the background.

In the evenings, those who enjoy people-watching can sit outside on the lounge chairs and watch football matches amongst the locals, and even join in themselves. It is the perfect spot to get a glimpse into Zanzibari culture.

However, Hyatt’s glimmering jewel is their restaurant, very creatively named ‘The Dining Room’. The food at The Dining Room never disappoints, and the menu is a delicate balance of continental dishes as well as traditional Swahili food, all served by an excellent and attentive staff.

And that’s all for today! I hope this helps you narrow down your options a bit more! I plan on having a few more parts to this series talking about more hotels, sights to see, and activities to do. If you have any suggestions of your own on places I should talk about next, leave them down in the comments below! Kassie, signing out!
